Song of the Day: #10

"We are not interested in the genre 'easy listening'" claimed MONSTA in an interview with Popjustice, and it's quite clear, with songs like 'Holdin' On', they weren't just throwing that statement out there in any old blasé fashion. MONSTA (the capitals are essential) are a three-piece group based in London, made up of two producers, Rocky and Rufio, and one lead singer, Bryn. While Bryn's vocals are bursting with Motown-esque emotion and soulfulness, Rocky and Rufio's production is a concoction of drum-beats, subtle dubsteb undertones (not like this racket) and the odd random sounds. It shouldn't work, but it does, and that's what really matters at the end of the day, right? Right. Have a listen to 'Holdin' On' below.
